Your First Strategy
Pick one of five built-in strategies, set capital and risk limits, and turn automation on deliberately — starting in Paper mode.
Pick a strategy
Aegis ships five built-in strategies from its quant engine:
- Momentum
- Breakout
- Trend Following
- Mean Reversion
- Ensemble — a weighted vote of the other four
Every strategy uses an ATR(14, 2x) stop and a 2:1 reward-to-risk target, with market-regime detection (trending up or down, ranging, breakout, high or low volatility) so it adapts to conditions. Start with one strategy and one symbol.
Set capital and a risk profile
- Choose the strategy and the symbol you want it to trade.
- Allocate the capital the strategy may use.
- Pick a risk profile that sets how aggressively it sizes positions.
Set your limits
The deterministic risk engine enforces the guardrails you configure:
- Per-symbol limits — cap exposure to a single market.
- Portfolio limits — cap total exposure across everything.
- Reservations are atomic, and a kill switch can halt trading at any time.
Orders the strategy places (MARKET, LIMIT, STOP_MARKET, STOP_LIMIT) carry their entry, stop, and target so risk is defined before a trade is live.
Automation starts OFF
Automation is disabled by default — nothing trades until you opt in. Enabling automation is a sensitive action, so it requires a step-up wallet signature at that moment.
Start in Paper
Run your first strategy in PAPER mode — a simulated $10,000 account — to watch its behavior with zero risk before moving on. See Trading modes for the recommended progression.
